Collaboration across cultures and disciplines
Ongoing Projects
HEROES Study, University Children's Hospital
Basel, Switzerland (UKBB)
In this multi-site, trans-disciplinary, and multi-method research project, we look at how adolescents with a chronic rheumatic disease move from the pediatric into the adult setting. We aim to improve their experience by implementing transition care programs in all rheumatic centers in Switzerland. As anthropologist, I am responsible for the qualitative study part of the project.
Kafouli
Kafouli is a neighborhood center based in Sarfalao, Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. Together with my partners in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, I have founded this association. We are public administrators, teachers, researchers, nurses, businesspeople, based in Bobo and in Basel, Switzerland. Our main aim is to support the resiliency of our neighbors.
The Africa Bookshelf - fiction & faction
As a scholar of Africa, I have a natural affinity for novels situated in Africa. And I believe novels can enhance, add to, and expand upon our academic knowledge. For this reason I have conceptualized The Africa Bookshelf, which is a list of works of fiction, whose story is situated in Africa. All books available on The Africa Bookshelf are written by authors from the continent and beyond. This is an intriguing idea isn't it? For book discussions beyond Africa, please click on the menu button Readings Beyond Academia.
Physically, the Africa Bookshelf can be found at the Swiss TPH library in Allschwil by Basel, Switzerland.
Bi-annual publication of the Swiss Society for African Studies
The Newsletter of the Swiss Society for African Studies comes out twice a year. As board member of the Swiss Society for African Studies (SSAS) and editor-in-chief of the Society's Newsletter, I am responsible for soliciting novel, relevant, and well written articles. Please send me your text, I am looking forward to reading you!
